First impression of New York Fashion Week: fashion gets 'harder'

Today on 9 February, Fashionoffice looked through the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week video channel, photos by Getty Images and published articles about the new Fall 2014 Ready to Wear at New York Fashion Week.

Since 6 February 2014, MBFW New York is running. Before the shows started, new venues were announced and the 'who and where' was a theme. Hervé Léger by Max Azria (on view with photo and video on this page) was held yesterday on 8 February at Lincoln Center Theatre which is one of the main venues of the city's fashion week. This season's first MBFW show was the one by Nicholas K at Lincoln Center Pavilion and Alexander Wang (not part of the MBFW shows) moved his presentation out of Manhattan to Brooklyn.

The mentioned collections have one in common: their warrior looks which are expressed with leather and armour-like elements (corsets at Hervé Léger by Max Azira), details that reference outdoor wear of hunters (Alexander Wang video) and styles that remind Jennifer Lawrence's outfits in 'Hunger Games' (Nicholas K video). Hervé Léger by Max Azira Fall 2014 is also attributed in media with the 'Hunger Games' (especially the black feathers - style.com), but Azira's creations have an additional asset - the collection is exceptional, almost devil-may-care sexy.
