European couture appeal at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week NY
From 9 to 16 February 2012, more than 99 labels - from group presentations of emerging designers like 'Concept Korea' over sportswear such as by the French label Lacoste or the Japanese-German brand Y-3, to the 'Grandes Dames' of the city like Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg, and Vera Wang are showing their collections in front of thousands professionals and fashion addicts off- and online at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.
The LiveRunway stream on YouTube and the MBFW-website on mbfashionweek.com deliver news in real-time and background information about the participating labels. Even the ones who are interested more in the 'scene' than in fashion will be satisfied on the website.
On the first sight, the designers at the MBFW New York provide this year stronger European couture appeal on the catwalks than the years before.

Rebecca Minkoff's sportive hoodie is worked like an elegant English tailored boucle costume jacket with black leather edgings. The jacket is combined to yellow trousers with stitching over the knees. The stitiching can be read as a citation of sport pants protection elements.
The big hats and 70s sexy female, colorful and flower printed outfits with tribal details are signatures of the style of Nicole Miller FW2012/13 (the photo above, right; video of the show on this page below).
On the snow decorated catwalk at Lacoste, the models appeared in sportive suits and outerwear with a touch of 1960s 'James Bond in the mountains on skis' aesthetics.
Hervé Léger by Max Azria enhances the female figure with bondage elements (the label is known for the 'bondage dress') and applies with fur and leather a raw style to feminine, soft floating dresses.
